Floods Northern Thailand Food Shortages in Pattaya
The flood waters from northern Thailand will never reach Pattaya, though Pattaya is starting to be effected by these floods.
24th October while doing a weekly shop I realised that the floods in northern Thailand are having an effect on us residents here in Pattaya. Many shops are beginning to run low on essential food items like water, bread, milk, rice.
Products that I noticed stock levels running low
I didn’t look at all the product lines of the shopping centers, only at the products that I would normally purchase
The products that are running extremely low or are completely out of stock
- Drinking water
- Milk
- Dairy Products like butter,
- Bread
- Rice
- Eggs
- Noodles
- Tea
- Dog food
- New born Baby formula
- Toilet Paper and Kitchen Paper
Bread shelves were empty, though the bakery are still making bread
Many Dairy products sold out
Only a small amount of milk in stock
These shelves normally stock drinking water, but are now full of softdrinks. NO DRINKING water
Noodles nearly out of stock
No NEW BORN BABY MILK
Low stock of limited selection of vegetables. This photo shows only onions were on sale
Vegetables out of stock
No Noodles
Nearly No Toilet Paper
Fruit Juice running low
Space for Rice – No Rice
No Fresh Drinking Water – This area normally is full of water

At the moment Bangkok has not been flooded. From the information that I have read, the flood waters could very possible effect Bangkok for a month or even longer.
We already have food shortages here in Pattaya. Over the coming days and weeks extra problems will add to the food and product shortages. This could result with shortages in the coming weeks for us all.
Information about the food problems from other sources
Limited stocks and supplies
Local restaurants will soon start feeling the effects of limited stocks and supplies and many regular customers for some places will no doubt be told their favourite dish is unavailable due to the flooding
